I am constantly amazed at how much good unsigned music there is out there, and groups like Giant Ant Farm are the ones responsible for constantly surprising me. They sound like a cross between the Pogues, the Levellers, and Danny Elfman. However, they have a distinct roughness, especially in the vocals, and a tendency to experiment compared to the aforementioned musicians. Their music is extremely catchy. You could goto a concert by them, completely unfamiliar with their music, and still be able to groove to it. They are better than most of the new artists played on commercial radio and it is when listening to them that I wonder why I even bother listening to watered down and over produced music for the masses. Music rarely gets this passionate.
