Shellac

Action Park

Many people might not appreciate Steve Albini's production, but I don't think they can deny its uniqueness. When Albini produces for Shellac, there are no limits to what he can do and this is obvious when listening the record. The guitar sound is a bit thin and flangy, which immediately sets it apart from most productions. It takes a bit of getting used to, but I think it is fresh sounding. The vocals are a bit low in the mix, but the prominent bass and drums complement the guitars quite well. The music itself is pretty catchy, noisy-punk, and syncopated (which is good). The CD case is quite cool.
