John Sealander

Collected Songs 1983-1986

The two names that first come to mind when I listen to this tape are ABBA and Eurythmics. The latter is what I think this music most closely resembles, but the harmonies are superior here, along the lines of the former group. Every song is extremely melody and catchy! It's a shame you no longer hear this kind of music in the charts but simple melodic music seems to have lost its appeal among the masses. The simplicity in Sealander's work here is what lends its beauty but the thing that is missing most, particularly in the vocals, is a smoothness that would make the music fly, but perhaps increasing the speed of the tape might fix it. The various odd keyboard melodies add some quirkiness to the music, making it quite interesting.
