Lycia

Cold

This album continues the gothic theme found in previous Projekt releases, with lush instrumentation and rich processed vocals, thus creating a symphonic, almost majestic, feel. It's hard to describe this music without waxing poetic, but there's a fleeting, ephemeral qualify that remains even after the album has stopped playing. The entire album is conceptual, with the central theme being coldness and isolation. The fact that there's extensive use of electronics adds to this theme. The music is paradoxically uplifting and gloomy at the same time. Lycia is Mike Vanportfleet (guitars, vocals, synth, programming, and the principal songwriter), David Galas (sampler, synth, programming and bass) and Tara Vanflower (vocals), and I highly recommend this album if you're into dark and passionate music.
