Capitão Fantasma

Contos do Imaganario e do Bizarro

The album has a thin guitar sound, remiscent of a Steve Albini project and combines folkish punk with surf music and lyrics sung in Portuguese. It's like the Ramones meets Dick Dale meets the Pogues. There's even a song (Doente Mental) that sounds a lot like Fish On by Primus. Sound weird? Capitão Fantasma definitely are. The album sounds like it was recorded on a hand-held tape recorded at one of their shows, and it contains the energy and aggression you'd normally associate with a live performance. I would argue that this group has a very high chance of mainstream popularity in this country if their lyrics were in English.
