Black Tape for a Blue Girl - interviews

Remnants of a Deeper Purity

Melancholic, haunting, and atmospheric are words that readily come to mind in describing this release. There's some cool violin work that matches the intensity of some of the most powerful guitar solos I've heard. Black Tape for a Blue Girl is a grandoise Projekt and songwriter Sam Rosenthal's electronics and harmonium equal its lyrical ambitions. The end result is a carefully, almost lovingly, designed package of music and art with great beauty. In the promotional material I received, Sam writes "we have a very noncommercial approach to music" and I can definitely attest to this. Not many will have the patience to listen intently to the stirring 26-minute For You Will Burn Your Wings Upon The Sun, but the ones who do will be amply rewarded by refreshing honesty and passion. This would've served as an excellent soundtrack for the The Crow movies.
