Primus concert review

San Francisco CA, USA. December 31, 1998.

The night December 31, 1998 is always going to be a night to remember. The San Francisco Warfield Theatre was packed with people screaming out Primus's support motto: "Primus Sucks!!" Les, Lar, and Brain put on a magnificent show, with crazy lasers, and a backdrop in the background for all of the crazy people who were trippin'. They played a lot from Frizzle Fry and Pork Soda, and a few songs from the Brown Album, like Renegade, Duchess and the Proverbial Mind Spread (when he yelled out, "How many of you are on hullucenigenics tonight?" Everyone screamed.), Hats Off, and Bob's Party Time Lounge. Along with the infamous Tommy the Cat. At the beginning of the show the band opened with a group named spearhead. They were pretty awesome. They were like a reggae kind of group who talked about some important issues, but also sang a lot about getting high. Then when Primus came out, Les was wearing this cop sort of outfit, bouncing his leg up and down and wearing his dark sun glasses (what he's known for). Then we had intermission and Les came back out on stage and was wearing this Lime Green ruffled senorita blouse, and he was just getting down. After a couple of songs of that, they stopped and got Bob Cock out on stage doing their own type of version of Prince's We're going to Party like it's 1999. Then they started counting off and when it turned New Year's they let all of the balloons down. It was the best New Year's I ever had and I can't wait to go next year. See the rest of you there.
